Global Warming in Phoenix based on a 60 day test
Title: Global Warming in Phoenix based on a 60 day test
Category: Industry
Intellectual Property: The intellectual property will be placed in the public domain
Year: 2009
Semester: Fall
Sponsor Name: Lockheed Martin/Advanced technology Center
Sponsoring advisors:
Sponsor URL: http://lmco.com
Sponsor Information: PhD Physics, Fellow, 8 patents
Research interests include lasers and electro optics , theoretical and experimental physics
This is fourth year submitting project ideas.
ITAR Restriction: No
Scope of work: Determine a measurable parameter which could be used to monitor possible changes in global warming. Design, fab, and test an instrument, or instruments, to measure this parameter. Use the instrument to record the parameter for a minimum of 60 days in 2010 in Phoenix. Compare your results of your measurements with the same parameter measured from known data bases from previous years in the Phoenix area.
1. Design the device to measure the parameter at an accuracy sufficient to notice changes expected and allow comparisons to other data, from other sources.
2. Based on your 60 day measurement in 2010 in Pheonix, can you draw any conclusions about global warming in the Phoenix area?
Students are free to choose any measureable parameter except air temperature or ozone concentration.
