Honeywell-Aerospace in Tucson, Arizona, designs and manufactures cabin pressure control systems (system engineering, electronics, and mechanical valves) for use on all types of pressurized aircraft.
Darrell Horner is the Chief Engineer of the cabin pressure control systems product line. He has worked at Honeywell-Tucson for 21 years. He has earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Arizona.

| Scope of work: |
Current valve actuators use a potentiometer to measure valve shaft position. Potentiometers can have a "dual-gang" configuration where one shaft input is output via two independent potentiometers.
Honeywell has recently been using a more reliable sensor technology, but the sensors have only a single output per sensor. Therefore, a mechanical design must be performed to mount two position sensors on an actuator shaft.
This project may require design of a small gear system and mounting arrangement for the sensors. Modification of an existing gearbox will be required. |
