Scope of work: Using rotating mirrors and optical trains in Infrared Missile Seekers is a common method to increase the Field of View (FOV) of a system by scanning the Instantaneous Field of View (IFOV) over a wide area. Applying / controlling the cant angle of a spinning mirror  during seeker assembly will adjust it’s scan diameter. A precision assembly device is needed to measure the angle and bond mirrors of varying size and power at a specific cant angles to the rotational axis of a gimbal assembly. The assembly device/fixture must take into consideration ease of use, flexibility to adapt to different mirrors, and assembly time.  The scope for this project is to design and prototype an assembly station to be used to perform this assembly and measurement operation.

Requirements: measure mirrors of varying size and power (range: TBD)
Bond mirrors within time limit for maximum output
     Angle range of 0.150 – 1.0 degrees
High accuracy: +/- 0.10 degrees
Able to handle magnetic mirror assemblies
