Scope of work: Wireless power transmission technology has great potential in a variety of applications such as wireless sensor networks, RFID, solar power harvesting and large-scale power transferring.  In this senior capstone project, we will design, implement and test a wireless power transmission prototype for near range (1 cm – 100 cm) power transmission.  Different types of antennas and rectifying circuits will be designed and integrated to demonstrate real time powering of small electronic devices such as a LED.  Both near field and far field power transfer modes will be studied.  The capstone project will provide support for the student team to attend the International Telemetering Conference in Las Vegas, October 2009.
The final report will be edited for submission as a student paper at the International Telemetry Conference, San Diego, 2010.  Student papers are eligible for a $1000 prize. This project will be co-directed by Dr. Hao Xin and Dr. Michael Marcellin of the ECE department.
